To be accepted in vocational training in Québec, you must meet four (4) admission requirements, which are age, knowledge of the language of instruction, academic prerequisites and financial capacity.

If you do not meet all of the requirements, but you believe that you will be able to meet them by the next twelve (12) months, you can still begin your registration. However, your file will only be analyzed once completed and that all required documents will have been uploaded.

N.B. : Beyond admission requirements, you do not need to have any specific skills or training-related experience to be eligible.

Age

You must be 17 years old when you arrive in Québec. There is no age limit to study in vocational training.

Language

The level of knowledge of French required is B2 for the majority of training programs (level 7 of the Québec scale). International students must pass an official language test (TEF, TCF, TFI, DELF, TEFAQ or DALF) and upload their results to their application.

If you have to pass a language test, your accompanying agent will be able to do the registration for you to the Test de Français en Ligne (TFL), offered by Québec métiers d’avenir, once you are accepted in a vocational training program.

You are exempt from providing an official French test if one of the following situations applies to you :

Academic prerequisites

The majority of training programs require a 4th or 5th secondary in Québec (Seconde or Première successful for France and 10 or 11 years of successful studies for other education systems). Please consult the page of the chosen training program to find out the educational level required to be admitted.

Financial capacity

You must demonstrate during registration that you have the financial capacity to realize your study project. For more details, please consult the Planning a budget.
