The Online French Test (TFL) is a 100% Quebec-designed language test, created to meet the needs of international candidates and recognized by vocational training centres (CFP).

Fully online, it can be taken without travelling and adapts to your situation with dates offered every week. The TFL assesses all four language skills (comprehension and production, both spoken and written), is affordable, and provides results quickly.

The TFL result is recognized exclusively for admission to vocational training. It cannot be used for immigration purposes.

Listening Comprehension

Learn more

The listening section consist of 80 prerecorded multiple-choice questions. You will hear each question only once. You will have 30 seconds to answer each question. The total duration of this section is 45 minutes.

Speaking skills

Learn more

The speaking section is conducted by a examiner via live videoconference. This section is divided in two tasks and last about 15 minutes.

The first task: Candidates will be asked to make a presentation where they tell a story, or a fact related to a topic of their choice or proposed by the examiner.

The second task: Candidates will interact with the examiner and maintain a fluid conversation.

Reading Comprehension

The reading comprehension test involves answering 40 questions on a variety of documents, lasting 45 minutes.

Writing production

Learn more

The written production test involves writing a 150-word text in 30 minutes. Syntax and spelling will be assessed.
