Furniture conservators, also known as furniture finishers, restore and repair worn or aged furniture. They carry out the finishing (staining, varnishing, enamelling, for example) of new furniture, stripping, sanding and finishing of old furniture. As part of their duties, they may be required to perform special finishes. It is a solitary profession for those who love wood and have good manual skills.
