Applying for a Quebec Acceptance Certificate (CAQ) for studies

Once you have received your letter of admission, you must make the first payment of your tuition fees to the admitting educational institution (see the terms and conditions of the payment policy) and you have to apply for a Quebec Acceptance Certificate (CAQ) for studies with the Ministry of immigration, diversity and inclusion (Ministère de l'Immigration, Diversité et Inclusion (MIDI)).

You can apply online for your CAQ directly from the MIDI. To do so, you must have  :

  • Your passport
  • Your official admission letter (that provides the contact information of the school, the information relating to your program of study and the information relating to the tuition fees).
  • A valid credit card (a fee of 109 $ is charged)

Important : When applying for a CAQ, you must not identify Éducation internationale in the Autorisation à communiquer des renseignements à une tierce personne or in the Autorisation de représentation dans mes démarches. In fact, doing so could slow down the CAQ request process since the Ministry's response will not be directly forwarded to you. Obtaining a CAQ is a prerequisite to obtaining a study permit issued by the Canadian government.

You can find more information on the MIDI website regarding :

It takes about a month to obtain your CAQ for studies. Take advantage of this time to prepare your arrival in Quebec. To facilitate your integration into Quebec society, the guide Learning about Quebec offers practical information on all aspects of life and work in Quebec!

After obtaining your CAQ, you must notify Éducation internationale that you have obtained it so that we can inform the educational institution admitting you and so that your application isn't considered void.

Your tuition fees must be paid no later than two months before the start of your studies. Otherwise you will be deemed to have abandoned your application.
